A little about Homeland.
Homeland was first performed virtually by Neill alongside Pops Mohamed for the Turquoise Harmony Institute’s on 10 December 2020. The performance was met with overwhelming acclaim, inspiring Neill to further develop the project into a global movement.
The first official recording of Homeland took place at Flame Studios at Constitution Hill, South Africa, under the masterful production of JB Arthur. The project brought together over 20 singers and instrumentalists, alongside 15 members of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, creating a powerful and richly textured musical experience.
The ethos of Homeland extends beyond South Africa, aiming to unite voices from across the globe. Sung and interpreted in multiple languages and cultures, the song seeks to raise worldwide awareness.
Reflecting on the project, Neill says: “Looking back over the past year, it is incredibly rewarding to see this vision come to life. The contributions from everyone involved—their unparalleled talents and their spirit—have shaped the song into something truly extraordinary. This project has the power to inspire communities and leaders worldwide to embrace and integrate refugees. Ultimately, we are all, in some way, searching for a better life.”
